Rules and guidelines:

Do tours in Savannah go out rain or shine?
Yes, the show must go on! Savannah is known for summer squalls. The good news is they often end as suddenly as they begin. Keep a close eye on the weather as tour time approaches. Be ready to bring a jacket, umbrella or plastic poncho, sold at many downtown Savannah shops.

Cancellations for weather related reasons are very rare but it is important that we have a valid email and contact number that you will have access to while in traveling in Savannah, Georgia in case we need to make you aware of any changes. If we cancel a tour for safety reasons, refunds will be given.

What is the Mad Cat Tours cancellation policy?
All online reservations must be paid or reserved with a valid credit card or through PayPal. Guests who reserve and/or pay with a credit card or PayPal and then do not show for their selected tour will be charged the full amount of their party’s tour price. We are only allotted a certain number of spaces per city law, so please keep in mind if you are a ‘no-show’ for your tour, your credit card will be charged the full ticket price for each guest. If you cannot attend your tour a ‘rain-check’ will be issued and you may reschedule (Subject to availability). All tickets are non-refundable. If you contact us at least 24 hours in advance we will gladly reschedule your tour, at no charge. No refunds will be issued for tickets.

Departure times:

Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your tour time to ensure you can find parking and check in with your guide. We must take all of our guests into consideration, so we do leave on time. Please make sure you are on time too, there will be no refunds for ‘no-shows.’ If you absolutely cannot make your tour, contact us a minimum of 24 hours in advance of tour time and we will be happy to reschedule it for you at no cost.

Conduct:

By municipal regulation, anyone behaving in a disruptive, or otherwise disorderly fashion, including but not limited to public drunkenness, will be asked to leave the tour, those asked to leave will not be eligible for a refund.


Please be respectful of your guide, other individuals and private property while on tour.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Tours often sell out so we suggest purchasing your tickets early to guarantee your desired tour day. We can accept cash paying customers at tour time, but only if there is room on the tour. Our tours are limited to a maximum of 20 guests each.

How long are the tours?

90 minutes to 2 hours.

How much walking is involved and what is the pace?

The tour covers about one mile to a mile-and-a-half over a 90 minute to 2 hour period. We walk at a leisurely pace and stop to discuss interesting points along the way. We do recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. There are places to sit and rest sporadically throughout the tour.

Where do the tours go?

The tours take place in beautiful Savannah Georgia’s Historic District.

Is transportation provided for the tour?

Guests are responsible for transportation to and from the tours.

Are there bathrooms along the way?
Restrooms may not be available along the tour route, though in case of emergency our guides will attempt to accommodate. Be prepared. We advise refreshing before your tour.

Are the tours conducted in English only?
Yes, at the moment we can only offer tours in English, but you are welcome to arrange for an interpreter. Please note that if you are accompanied by an interpreter, they will also need a ticket.

Are dogs/pets allowed on the tour?

Yes! We love pets too! All pets must be on leashes, please.

Is smoking allowed on the tour?
If you must smoke, please do so away from the other tour guests and guide. Thank you.

Do you offer private tours?
Yes, private tours are available. To inquire about booking a private tour, please contact us with the information at the bottom of this page.

Do I need to print a ticket?

No printed ticket is required, your guide will be ready to welcome you. When you arrive for the tour, simply tell your guide the name on your reservation and you will be good to go.

Will we go into haunted homes and buildings?

Unless specifically stated, none of our tours enter any physical locations or private premises.

Can I change my reservation to a different time or tour?

Yes! Simply contact us with at least 24 hours notice using the information at the bottom of this page. We will gladly accommodate your needs by rescheduling.

Can I bring alcohol on the tour?
Yes! Alcoholic drinks in non-branded ‘to-go’ cups are allowed. There is an open container ordinance in certain areas of Savannah.

Does the tour guide accept gratuities?
While not required, tips are accepted and always appreciated for a job well done.

Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?
The tour is available for those with wheelchairs or strollers- all sidewalks and parks have handicap access. Certain sidewalks and roads in the historic district are extremely bumpy and uneven. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

Can I request my favorite guide?

You are welcome to request a specific guide and we will do our best to accommodate, but can make no guarantees. We reserve the right to have any guide work any tour.

Will I see a ghost?

Many of our guests experience paranormal phenomena and we strongly encourage bringing your camera, EMF readers, EVP devices, etc. Our tours tell the haunted tales of Savannah, yet we cannot guarantee you will see a ghost. 

A few extra suggestions:

Our tours are walking tours, please dress sensibly and wear comfortable shoes.

In the summer months the hot evenings can stay in the 70s and 80s. Staying hydrated helps keep your your experience fun!

This is the South, we do have some bugs! You may want to apply some insect repellent prior to the tour.

Please carefully check the starting point for your tour.

Allow a little extra time for parking, sometimes it is a challenge in our busy historic district.

All tour tickets are non-refundable. If you must reschedule please give us at least 24 hours notice.
